The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Voice Anger Over Size Changes
Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.
The second-hand shopping app has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all users about the change.
Online Platforms Reaction
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online claiming that product pages now present a different size category compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping.
The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
It has advised users to examine their items and manually change the size where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.
Measurement Approach Changes
Previously, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Required Changes
Another shopper, located in England, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".
"This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Service Background
The platform boasts over 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
